I was transferred abroad and am returning to Malaysia with the same group of companies. Am I eligible for the REP?
This will depend on several factors:
- Whether you were sent abroad on a secondment basis
- Whether there was an understanding that you would return to Malaysia with a ready position within the company, after being abroad
- Whether you were/are under the obligation to return to Malaysia.
If the answer to any of the above is “yes”, unfortunately you would be ineligible for the REP. However, if the answer to all the above is “no”, you may be eligible for the REP, pending review of necessary documentation.
